On January 10th, 2021, the design plan for the cutting-edge futuristic city, known as The Line, was unveiled by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. A visual representation of the 500-meter (1,640 ft) tall parallel structures was released by Saudi’s NEOM on July 26th, 2022, showcasing the city’s location within the Red Sea megacity of NEOM.

The heart of the city will feature a green spine, inspired by Central Park, that measures 5.5 kilometers in length and 1 kilometer in width. This project is led by British architectural firm Foster + Partners.
The buildings in Amaravati will be powered by rooftop solar panels, while transportation options will include cycling routes, electric vehicles, and water taxis. The city will also have an irrigation system that utilizes recycled water, and shaded streets that will promote walking. The estimated cost of the project is $6.5 billion, according to the Andhra Pradesh authorities.
