Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
MaviGadget is committed to making our website, mobile app, and services accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work continually to improve the usability of our platform.
MaviGadget operates as a multi-vendor marketplace. This statement explains what we control directly, what is supplied by independent sellers, the standards we require of those sellers, and how to report a barrier wherever you encounter one.
Conformance Status
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the internationally recognized standard for digital accessibility.
We consider the MaviGadget platform to be partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means some content does not yet fully meet the standard. Because a significant portion of the content on our site is created and supplied by independent sellers, conformance varies across individual listings. We are working to raise the standard across the marketplace, and the limitations we are aware of are set out below.
The Platform We Control
The following are designed, built, and maintained by MaviGadget, and we are directly responsible for their accessibility:
- Site navigation, menus, search, and filtering
- Category and collection pages
- Cart, checkout, and account areas
- Order tracking and returns forms
- Policy and information pages
- Our mobile application
Current accessibility features across these areas include:
- Keyboard navigation throughout, including menus, filters, and checkout
- A skip-to-content link on every page
- Semantic headings and landmark regions to support screen reader navigation
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
- Colour contrast reviewed against WCAG AA minimums
- Form fields with associated labels and clear, descriptive error messaging
- Text that can be resized without loss of content or functionality
Content Supplied by Sellers
Product titles, descriptions, images, videos, and specifications are created and supplied by independent sellers. This content forms the majority of the pages on our marketplace.
We provide the accessible framework in which that content sits, including the structure of product pages, image alternative text fields, heading hierarchy, and the way information is presented to assistive technologies. What sellers enter into those fields is their own content.
The quality and accessibility of seller-supplied content varies. Where a listing falls below our standards, we work with the seller to correct it.
What We Require of Sellers
Sellers on MaviGadget are required, as a condition of listing, to:
- Provide meaningful alternative text for product images rather than leaving the field empty or using filenames
- Write product information as text rather than embedding it in images
- Provide captions or transcripts for video content where used
- Avoid conveying essential product information through colour alone
- Provide specifications, dimensions, and materials in text form
We provide sellers with guidance and tooling to meet these requirements, and we review listings against them.
Reporting a Listing
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on a specific product listing, please tell us. Reports about seller content are handled as follows:
- We acknowledge your report within 2 business days
- We review the listing against our seller content standards
- Where the listing falls short, we notify the seller and require correction within a defined period
- Where we can remediate directly, such as missing image alternative text, we do so without waiting for the seller
- Where a seller does not correct the listing, we may restrict or remove it
- We come back to you with the outcome
Please include the product name or URL, a description of the barrier, and the assistive technology or browser you were using.
Third-Party Services
Some functionality on our platform is provided by third parties, including payment processing, buy-now-pay-later providers, live chat, review widgets, and shipment tracking. We do not control the code these providers supply.
Where we identify accessibility issues in third-party components, we raise them with the provider and, where a barrier is significant and unresolved, we look for an accessible alternative.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility may be limited:
- Seller-supplied content. Alternative text and description quality vary across listings, particularly on older items.
- Legacy listings. Products listed before our current standards were introduced are being reviewed and updated progressively.
- Third-party components. Accessibility of embedded payment, chat, and review tools is determined by those providers.
- Seller documents. Manuals and specification sheets supplied by sellers or manufacturers may not be fully accessible. Accessible alternatives are available on request.
- User-generated media. Customer photos and videos in reviews do not carry alternative text.
Help With Ordering
If you have difficulty using any part of our site, we can help you directly. Contact us and a member of our team will assist with browsing, obtaining product information from a seller, placing an order, or tracking a delivery.
If a product listing does not give you the information you need in an accessible form, we will obtain it from the seller and provide it to you directly.
Accessible alternative formats of our policies and product information are available on request at no charge.
