Read the one and two star reviews specifically on anything with a battery in it. A $12 clipper with hundreds of good reviews is a better buy than a $60 device with none.

Second note, less obvious: anything that touches your face needs cleaning between uses or it just moves bacteria around. That covers brushes, sponges and silicone cleansing heads. Buyers tend to flag which tools come apart for washing and which are sealed shut, and there are a few brush washers and cleaning bowls here for exactly that job.
