The Cookie Cup, designed by Venezuelan Enrique Luis Sardi, enables eco-conscious coffee lovers to drink their coffee from an edible cup. Sardi worked with socially responsible Italian coffee company Lavazza to make the eco-friendly Cookie Cup prototype and packaging design a reality.
Biscotti-like Cookie Cup saves disposable glass waste and non-disposable glass cleaning. An insulating, waterproof powdered sugar safely holds the heat and coffee in the edible Cookie Cup until it is consumed.
After your espresso is finished, you can easily eat your cup and protect nature without leaving waste. The label is also printed on an edible paper.
“The cookie cup is made of pastry that is covered with a special icing sugar that works as an insulator making the cup waterproof and sweetening at the same time,” explains the website of Italian consulting firm Sardi Innovation, which managed the project. A chocolate version is reportedly on the way.
Pioneering in the Food Design movement, Cookie Cup has collected many awards in Ecology, Marketing, Business Strategy and Design sectors.
We hope this design comes to life as soon as possible and we will start to see more designs like this that are less harmful to nature.
