Psych is a low-power electric vehicle that encourages car use reduction within the urban landscape. The goal of this project is to create and implement a vehicle that can be used for short distances in an urban environment. This would reduce congestion, pollution, and parking problems.
Psych is a micro-transport that can be used in many different ways. Psych’s forward-facing stance allows for seated and standing positions, making it an adaptable vehicle. The bi-directional steering hub helps the user switch Psych’s position depending on their desired seating or standing style. This small yet robust design gives you more options than ever before!
Psych is a small, lightweight vehicle designed with the user’s changing lifestyle and recreational needs to meet commuter needs while enhancing travel capabilities overall commuting experience. Psych was created by Product Development Paper at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand, with one goal: A collaborative effort that began with extensive secondary research into urban commuting and healthy city trends and emerging technologies and explored through deep user engagement. Technology and usability were explored through various physical models, including full-sized, fully functional prototypes.
You can use it to get from point A to point B, but you could also use it for recreational purposes. It’s perfect for people who want versatility with their transportation options!
The Psych is a new, innovative vehicle that can be customized for each rider’s needs. The utility interface allows the rider’s seat to be shifted to the opposite end of the vehicle for an adult passenger or swapped out for a child’s seat or extended storage options. This ensures that riders are always comfortable and have enough space.
Psych is also a micro-transport that can be converted into an infant capsule. The utility interface allows the rider’s seat to be swapped out for an infant capsule, instantly converting Psych into a ride-on stroller for new parents to maintain mobility.
