Gamers can find themselves unwilling or unable to put as much money towards new games due to choice paralysis. In other cases, gamers prefer to return to simpler times, when season passes, DLC, and microtransactions didn’t make gaming feel so much like a product compared to an art form. With attention spans being stretched thin by games designed to deliver endless content, the finite nature of retro games is appealing to many, as well.

It’s more than just pure blind nostalgia that’s bringing retro gaming experiences back. There is a lot we can learn and value from the history of gaming beyond the trends that are popular today. Outdated as they might seem, they keep drawing people back for a reason.
